Chelsea FC @ RB Salzburg (12.45pm ET)

RB Salzburg will be hosting Chelsea at home with heavy hearts today. Red Bull founder, Dietrich Mateschitz, passed away over the weekend. He took over the club in 2005, changing SV Austria Salzburg into RB Salzburg. Mateschitz changed the club's colors and culture stating “This is a new club with no history”. Since his takeover in 2005; RB Salzburg has won 13 Austrian titles, 9 Austrian cups, and has progressed to knockouts in Europe in 5 of their last 5 seasons. A win today by RB Salzburg would guarantee another knockout appearance. A draw today would have them in second on the table and needing help from AC Milan. They will face AC Milan in the final match of group stages, and do not want the decision to come down to goal differential. The path to knockouts is not an easy one, but It’s there for the taking.

I think today is the perfect opportunity for RB Salzburg against a battered Chelsea squad. Chelsea had a very difficult weekend match vs Man U. Chelsea had a 1-0 victory snatched away in the final seconds of that match. (Shout out to the absolute LEGEND that is Casemiro) I am concerned that Chelsea’s injuries and heavy legs will play a factor today. The two offensive players to key in on for RB Salzburg are Noah Okafor and Luka Sucic. Okafor has been on Team Oaks for a while, and even sports the 77 kit. He has a goal in 3 out of 4 UCL matches this year and took PK duties when they received one. Sucic has a knock and has missed his last two domestic matches. If he is fit for this match, that’s a massive plus for RB Salzburg.

I am going to back the home-dog here today on a double chance.

BurrOaks77 Pick:

  • RB Salzburg double chance (+110) on PointsBet

*Double chance = a team to win or draw

Copenhagen @ Sevilla (12.45pm ET)

Copenhagen had a nice scoreless draw against Man City in their last UCL fixture. They also managed to draw with Sevilla when they hosted the previous head to head. However, today they must travel to Spain. Sevilla have been looking better under their new manager, and surprisingly came out of Dortmund with a draw. I think that had a lot to do with Dortmund not starting their best lineup (per my last article on the match), but Sevilla had a nice domestic win against a scrappy Mallorca after playing Dortmund. Sevilla lost to Madrid over the weekend, but they played well for 75 minutes. Copenhagen has yet to score a single goal in UCL competition this year. Sevilla has only managed two goals. Neither team has an outright win yet in the competition.

BurrOaks77 Pick:

  • Sevilla ML + u3.5 (+106) on Barstool
