Before we start, I can already guess what you, the reader, is thinking. “Inter Miami? Why are we talking about them? This is a betting article. Not a Messi rumor mill.” You are absolutely correct. Miami has been the butt of MLS jokes for a while now. However they have actually been playing some quality football lately, and have been a major thorn in the side of The Union.
Miami has some nice results on their resume lately. Including a 2-2 draw with DC United at home this weekend. Miami have also managed to pull off quality wins like: at home vs Atlanta, on the road at Seattle, and at home vs New England. A young player I have had my eye on since the beginning of the MLS season is Leonardo Campana. He is 21 and on loan from Wolves in EPL. Campana has 5 goals in 7 MLS starts including a hat trick in Miami’s win vs New England revolution. One major important thing to note on Miami’s recent success is how banged up their opponents have been. The win vs New England didn't have Matt Turner in net. The win over Atlanta was with Josef Martinez out. The win over Seattle was when Ruidiz was out. These are all major impact players that could have affected the outcome of the match. Right now I believe the prices on Miami are at an all time high, and this is a perfect opportunity to fade them.
Cut to the Philadelphia Union who have struggled to find themselves in the win column recently. Union are currently 3rd in the east based on goal differential and head to head results, but are in a three way tie for first with 20 points. Union haven't lost a game at home since last year’s MLS playoffs vs NYCFC. Before that loss, you have to go all the way back to September 3rd 2021 vs New England. The Union have been playing some of the best football in MLS and haven't dropped points versus quality opponents like New York RedBulls, LAFC, Nashville, and Montreal. This is a perfect “buy low” opportunity on The Union. One player on The Union I can’t get enough of is Daniel Gazdag. Gazdag is a Hungarian international who has made the trip overseas and played on the world cup qualifying team. He has continued to make huge strides and improvements to his game since being called up for international duty. Gazdag currently has 6 goals and 3 assists in 11 games. I will be taking him to score today.
As I mentioned earlier, Miami has been a thorn in the Union's side recently. Union are 2-1-1 in the last four head to head matches. Last year The Union didn’t register a win. I think the combination of Miami’s recent success and The Union’s recent struggles make for a great opportunity to buy in on Union at a great price.
