The battle for the last playoff spot in the East is red hot right now. By red hot, I mean it’s anyone's spot to grab if they can get some wins. Columbus currently holds 7th place and the final playoff spot in the East with 41 points. Right behind them is New England with 38 points, and they have a difficult road match in Houston tonight. In 9th place we have Inter Miami, with 36 points. Miami absolutely have to come away with all three points tonight at home if they want to continue battling for the final playoff spot. This is a tough ask, because Miami has lost their last three games outright. They are not in good form at the moment.
Miami has had a very good record at home this year at 8-3-3. That is encouraging, because the three game losing skid I mentioned earlier all came on road games. Miami recently beat Toronto and NYCFC at home. Not the most impressive wins in my book, but wins are wins. Unfortunately for Miami, Columbus doesn't really lose on the road. They have the least amount of road losses in the East at a grand total of two. Columbus’s overall road record is 3-9-2. So they don’t often win, but road draws are a great way to be a playoff team if you handle business at home. Columbus did just that back on the 31st of August vs Miami, beating them 1-0.
