The fairytale of Morocco continued with a win over Portugal and now they are the only team from Africa to ever reach this stage. Can they eliminate the defending champions France? Or will they have to settle for the 3rd place match against the loser of Argentina vs Croatia?

France to win by exactly 1 goal (+210)

Morocco has been a tough nut to crack for most teams at this World Cup. So far they are yet to lose a game and along the way they have wins over Belgium, Portugal and Canada, plus a draw against the other semi-finalist from their group Croatia. Only Canada has been able to score a goal against them so far, so the French will have a tough task at their hands here. With a spot in the WC final at stake here, both teams will be up for it so I’m not expecting a lot of goals to be scored. At the World Cup in 2018, both semi-final games were decided by a single goal, France beat Belgium 1:0 in their match. A scenario like that could be on the cards here, with not much separating these two teams, I think the experience of France gives them the slight edge here. A 1-0 or 2-1 scoreline is likely to decide this one.

Kylian Mbappe Anytime Goalscorer (+135)

France sealed a 2-1 victory in their last game against England thanks to strikes from Tchouaméni and Giroud. It’s always surprising to me when Kylian Mbappe doesn’t score a goal, he has 5 goals to his name at this World Cup so far and is in the running to win the golden boot so any goals he scores at this point increase his chances by a significant margin. Breaking down the Morocco defense will be a challenge, but the pace Mbappe has will be troublesome even for them. He’s scored twice in two games so far, and has a couple of assists to his name as well. He will be operating on the left wing, going up against his PSG teammate and good friend Achraf Hakimi, so knowing his tendencies on the defensive end should certainly help Mbappe here. I’m expecting at least one goal from the French forward here.
