Liverpool host Manchester United tonight hoping to keep their title hopes alive with a win. United are in a dog fight for the final Champions League spot with Tottenham and Arsenal and dropping any points here would harm their chances. This is an intense rivalry and Anfield should provide quite an atmosphere.
It’s hard to start anywhere else but with the tragic death of Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina’s newborn son. Messages of sympathy have flown in from around the world and I wish them peace in this incredibly difficult time. He of course is on bereavement leave and will miss tonight’s match.
Ronaldo’s presence on the pitch is important from a leadership perspective and United are reliant on his goals. In his absence I suspect they will start Marcus Rashford who has only found the net four times in a difficult season. Liverpool have played an intense schedule the last few weeks and Jurgen Klopp has rotated his squad to great effect.
The Reds have advanced to the semi finals of the Champions League and the FA Cup final and are chasing a quadruple. I don’t see Liverpool slipping up here and I suspect United to have a very difficult time getting up for this one.
