This three vs 11 matchup features the Baylor Bears who were a top 10 team at one point not too long ago and Colgate who has been a defensive juggernaut in the Patriot League this season. We will see if that defense can contain Baylor who has had little problems scoring the ball this year.
Baylor has been up and down this season and played in one of the toughest conferences in the country, the Big 12. At the end of the regular season this team had 10 losses, which is high for a three seed in the tournament. They also had some huge wins that helped them get that top-10 ranking earlier in the season. Baylor beat Kansas, Iowa State, BYU, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Auburn this year, all ranked teams and some of them ranked in the top 5.
Colgate played in the Patriot League which overall is a lower-scoring conference. However, they still managed 71.5 points per game and allowed just 63.2 points which was the 10th best defense as far as points allowed in the NCAA. As far as noteworthy wins, they donβt really have any to mention. Colgate lost all their big games such as games vs Illinois, Arizona, and Syracuse.
