Baylor has been up and down this season and played in one of the toughest conferences in the country, the Big 12. At the end of the regular season this team had 10 losses, which is high for a three seed in the tournament. They also had some huge wins that helped them get that top-10 ranking earlier in the season. Baylor beat Kansas, Iowa State, BYU, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Auburn this year, all ranked teams and some of them ranked in the top 5.

Colgate played in the Patriot League which overall is a lower-scoring conference. However, they still managed 71.5 points per game and allowed just 63.2 points which was the 10th best defense as far as points allowed in the NCAA. As far as noteworthy wins, they don’t really have any to mention. Colgate lost all their big games such as games vs Illinois, Arizona, and Syracuse.

Baylor is accustomed to blowout wins. When looking at this spread of 13.5 points, Baylor was covering that in the majority of their non-conference games. Early in the season they won by 14 or more points in seven of their first nine games. Against non-conference opponents they covered this line nearly every time. They even beat respectable teams by more than 14 this year such as Oregon State, Oklahoma, and Seton Hall.

When playing top teams, Colgate got blown out a few times. They lost by 17 or more to Arizona, Illinois, and Iona. Yale also beat them by 18 points. It’s going to be a tough matchup for Colgate who has struggled when facing more athletic and faster teams. This one bodes well for Baylor to cover the spread at -13.5 points.
