CFB Week 9: Anytime TD Picks, Parlays & SGPs (Oct 25)

Brendan Sorsby (Cincinnati), Anytime Touchdown

He has rushing touchdowns in five of seven games and at least one in two of his last three. He’s second on the team in carries, third in yards, and has scored six of the team’s 13 rushing touchdowns. Baylor has a poor run defense, allowing almost 32 points per game.

Cyrus Allen (Cincinnati), Anytime Touchdown

Allen has scored in four of seven games and had multiple TDs in three. Baylor’s pass defense is mediocre on its best days, and the Bears have given up 11 passing touchdowns this season.

Kobe Prentice (Baylor), Anytime Touchdown

He has touchdowns in five of seven games, but has only 19 receptions. For most teams, that would be concerning, but Baylor has the No. 1 passing game in the country. I expect this game to turn into a shootout, so I’m sure Prentice will record at least one.

Braylon Staley (Tennessee), Anytime Touchdown (vs. Kentucky)

He made his third touchdown grab of the season last week in the loss to Alabama, where he was targeted 15 times and caught ten. I can see Joey Aguilar bringing that confidence in Staley into this weekend vs. a lackluster Kentucky pass defense.

Jonah Coleman (Washington), Anytime First Half Touchdown (vs. Illinois)

Big Ten teams have been slowing Coleman down, but he leads the nation with 12 touchdowns and has at least one in every game but vs. Ohio State. Coleman is pivotal to Washington’s success on offense. When the Huskies get within scoring range, he’ll get the ball.

Haynes King, First TD Scorer for Georgia Tech (vs. Syracuse)

King is one of the leading scorers in the nation this season, with ten rushing touchdowns and has at least one in every game (anytime odds -370). He has also scored the first touchdown for Georgia Tech in half of their games against FBS teams.

My approach to touchdown scorer props is to identify players who score more often than most, playing teams with lackluster to poor defenses. Now, in many such cases, the anytime odds for those players will be minus money odds with little to no value.

However, if you get a little more specific with your market, you can manufacture value. For example, Haynes King had minus money odds for his anytime TD and anytime TD in the first-half props.

But his odds to score Georgia Tech’s first touchdown (which he has done a few times) were +230.
