It’s a small NHL slate tonight, a good time to limit the plays and find some gems. The best value I see on the board comes from an Islanders shooter who was just promoted to their top line.

Wahlstrom has been shooting like crazy lately, piling up 16 shots on goal on 27 attempts over his last four games. He’s over this 2.5 number in three of five on the year and despite this volume, we’re able to grab him at +125 on DraftKings.
His opponent tonight is the New York Rangers on a back-to-back, and while the Rangers have been relatively tight to shots compared to the rest of the league, they did just see 44 against them in a physical effort yesterday, and in two road games they’re averaging 35 shots allowed per game.
With the Islanders home and rested, they should be able to push the pace tonight against their cross-town rivals. Much of the buzz from Islanders’ reporters and players has been about the play of Wahlstrom.
Known for his quick shot, it’s likely to be an asset moving forward, especially on the top line. We may look back fondly on this +125 price in a few weeks.
We’ll have to wait and see, but if Igor Shesterkin sits tonight given the back-to-back, I like looking to Wahlstrom to score, currently +360 on Caesars. He has three goals in three home games, and given how often he’s shooting the puck, logic suggests a goal is soon to follow.
