SUBSCRIBE TODAYParlay betting has been gaining in popularity over the years, but don’t worry you are not too late to the party. An NHL Parlay is essentially a bet on outcome of multiple games combine onto one bet slip.
For example, we can back the Nashville Predators to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets at -156 odds, the Washington Capitals to beat the Ottawa Senators at -110 odds and the Anaheim Ducks at Boston Bruins game to go Over 6.5 Total Goals at -122 odds.
That 3-leg Parlay gives us odds of +470 which means if we were to wager $10 on it the potential payout would be $47.
Winning an NHL parlay is usually harder than landing a single bet on just one game. However, the thing that attracts bettors to Parlays are higher odds. The more games you add to your bet, the higher the odds you get. For example, you can combine 4 different games in a Parlay and each time you add another team the odds multiply, however you must also keep in mind that the more games you add the greater the risk gets.
To win an NHL Parlay bet you must successfully land all the teams you have included in the bet. Let’s say you have a 4-team parlay, landing 3 out of 4 bets is no different than losing on all 4 of them.
Most bettors are attracted to the idea of having a chance of a huge payoff while wagering a small amount of money, but those type of parlays are hard to land and they also come with quite a few strict rules you have to follow.
Parlays are catered more towards the type of person that bets on sports for entertainment purposes. In order to get profit on them you’ll need to analyze your bets thoroughly and with a bit of luck on your side you might just end up landing one
Before we explain how to place an NHL Parlay bet it is important to note what amount of money you would like to wager on your bet. While most sportsbooks will allow a wager of $2 or less to be placed on a parlay, the maximum amount varies from one book to the other.
Here are a few simple steps explaining how to place an NHL Parlay bet:
As in every other sport there are several factors to consider when betting on NHL Parlays, here are a few of them to consider:
The word “analytics” has been thrown around a lot lately in all sports and hockey is no exception. Before placing any bet it is important to dig deep into the stats of the team you are betting on and the opponent they are facing that night. Doing your homework before placing a bet is equally valuable as going into the box scores after the games have ended.
There are no guarantees in betting, sometimes you will land bets that are supposed to lose and on other nights you will lose on bets that are supposed to win easily. The important thing is to stay levelheaded after such events and not let yourself get dragged into chasing your loses.
Hockey bets are more than just backing a team to win. In fact, there are quite a few markets to consider these days when betting on an NHL Parlay and it is important to find out which market suits you best.
For example, if you want to bet on a particular player to do something in a game you have player props. You can wager on a total number of goals, assists or even points for a specific game for your favorite player.
Team props are also becoming increasingly popular. If you think a specific team has been on a roll lately, you can bet on them to score a specific number of goals, so if the opposition goes scoreless in that game it won’t impact your bet.
And then we have Game Props where you can predict if a game is likely to go into overtime, how many goals will be scored in a specific period, will a team win the game in regulation and much more.
Hockey is one of the more dangerous sports and therefore injuries play a part in outcome of games. Despite players wearing all kinds of protective gear, they are always in danger of getting hit by someone be it by accident or on purpose.
Unlike in basketball where teams have 12 players to choose from (5 starters and 7 on the bench), hockey teams consist of 4 line-ups with up to 20 players at their disposal. Still, it is important to note if a star player is currently dealing with an injury and in what kind of form each player has been lately.
Sportsbooks will often entice their customers by revealing how a specific bet has gotten traction over a specific period of time.
For example, let’s say the Tampa Bay Lightning receive a lot of bets to win the Stanley Cup a month before the season starts, that will result in the odds for that specific bet going down, so it is important to keep an eye on betting trends. At the start of the 2022-23 season the defending champions Colorado Avalanche were priced as high as +600 to repeat as champions, but if they get on a roll in the first month of the season that price can dwindle down quickly.
