Javier Assad has allowed more than 5 hits ONCE all year and it was all the way back on May 26 when he was at home vs the Reds. Granted most of his starts have been part of bullpen games, but fast forward 3 months and heβs been crushing the starter role. He went 6 innings last game only allowing 4 hits to Whote Sox, then 7 innings pitched allowing 4 hits to the Jays and just 3.2 innings pitched the previous 2 against the Braves and Reds once again keeping it under 5.5 hits.
It seems like when he hits some trouble in hits or walks he has a quick pull, but has just dominated the last few starts. He should pitch anywhere from 60-80 pitches with a strong ceiling at 90.Β
He has covered Stromanβs injury relatively well and I expect him to have another solid start today keeping the Tigers to a minimum.
