Gausman has not been pitching up to his standards and the Royals may be the perfect team to have the best start of his season. Let me explain. He finally got up to 101 pitches last game and the only reason he went for just 5 IP was because it was the Yankees. They made him pitch deep into counts making him abnormally walk 3 guys and pushed up his pitch count. Actually the Yankees are the only team who he's walked any batters against this year. It was still an overall solid start considering he allowed just 1 run and 4 hits. Now he'll be facing an opposite team that doesn't strike out or walk. They attack the ball early and is the reason why he's not even expected 6 Ks. He's also dominated the Royals in the past. Every that he'll see today, he's held to a below .222 BA in his career.
He seems to have found his form and it should show in this matchup.
