@FastMoneyLabs' Friday Night Parlay - 7/22

Leg 1: Kevin Gausman over 5.5 Ks (-135) vs. BOS

If there’s a team that hasn’t figured out Gausman’s splitter yet — it’s the Boston Red Sox. In 3 recent matchups, Gausman whiffed 8, 9 and then 10. Tonight, we only need 6+. If you’re feeling bold, consider laddering up to 8 or 9+ using FanDuel. I personally feel another 10+ performance would be a stretch, but 7 to 8+ feels completely reasonable tonight. If he finishes with 9+, I won’t be too surprised. The counter-argument is that tonight will be the Sox’ 4th time seeing him. Familiarity tends to benefit bats and reduce K rates. For this reason, I prefer the safety of 6+ for our parlay.

Leg 2: Shohei Ohtani over 8.5 Ks (+115) vs. ATL

The two-way sensation has now tossed 10+ Ks in 4 straight games. 3 of those 4 starts featured 11+ Ks, and tonight we only need 9+? Say less, right?

The Braves have the 3rd highest K% vs. RHPs in MLB behind only the Angels and Pirates. As a National League team, they’re less familiar with Ohtani than other clubs. String those two facts together and I feel it highlights a nice betting opportunity. Love Ohtani to finish with 9+ Ks tonight at plus money odds. If you’re feeling bold, ladder him up to 10+ using FanDuel.

Leg 3: Baltimore Orioles over 3.5 Runs (-125) vs. NYY

The Orioles’ 10-game win streak snapped in Tampa Bay, but their bats never missed a beat. Baltimore has now scored 4+ runs in 6 straight games and 8 of their last 9.

New York is coming off back-to-back losses and arrive in Baltimore losers of 6 of their last 9. Pitching for the Yankees tonight will be Jameson Taillon, a veteran RHP that’s coming off a strong start but otherwise struggled leading up to All-Star Break. Tonight will be Baltimore’s 4th time seeing him this season, and familiarity tends to benefit bats.

Also complicating matters for the Yankees tonight is a logistical issue. Their flight from Houston didn’t touch down in Baltimore until 2:44AM ET last night, per @SportsAviation:

They’re professionals and should be able to drink some espressos and be fine tonight, but will they be 100% dialed in? It’s a serious question worth pondering if you plan to back the Yankees tonight.

Baltimore +1.5 run line feels like a great play as well; however, with Taillon pitching — I prefer the Team Total angle for Leg 3.
