Fresh off earning American League Pitcher of the Month recognition for the 2nd consecutive month, I’d need a really good reason to shy away from the White Sox’ Ace for Leg 3.
Dylan Cease is basically burning down the league at this point. For example, he’s now gone 12 straight starts without allowing more than 1 run. He’s also sat down 7+ batters in 8 of his last 10 (80%) games, and 8+ in 7 of his last 10 (70%).
His consistent performance has earned him the 3rd shortest odds to win the AL Cy Young award (+480) behind only Shane McClanahan (+260) and Justin Verlander (-130).
He’ll look to pick up steam in that race tonight against Texas, who have the 12th highest K rate vs. Right-Handed Pitchers (RHP) in the last month. In one career visit to Arlington Park, Dylan Cease sat down 10 batters on September 17, 2021.
Texas is yet to face the 2022 version of Dylan Cease, and don’t say I didn’t warn you, Texas — that dude has upgraded to a killer, frankly lethal, 70’s-style mustache. The White Sox are 16-5 when this version of Cease starts.
Meanwhile, Texas is just 5-10 when Glenn “Clean Shaven” Otto starts.
Call me crazy guys, but I’ll take the favorite to whiff 7+ & win for Leg 3! I also played this as a straight bet to win 1 unit.
