Tonight he’s batting 5th for just the third time all season (normally hits 6th - 9th). This boosts his chances to get 4-5 Plate Appearances and is a source of betting value. He’s also crushing lefties (0.364/0.417/0.636 slash line) and faces a very hittable LHP in Ryan Yarbrough here.

The player I’m teasing, of course, is… *drumroll*… Jorge Mateo! Kid’s bursting at the seams of a breakout season and gets an A+ matchup tonight. According to the BallparkPal.com “matchup machine”, Yarbrough grades in the Top 8% of possible matchups for Mateo.

Long story short… I’m backing Baltimore’s young shortstop to record a hit and win the game! The Orioles are cruising but need to keep pressing to keep pace in a tough AL East division. Meanwhile the Royals flat out stink, and Tyler Wells has been electric so far (leads all of MLB in WHIP). Look for Baltimore to improve to 12-2 in their last 14 games.
