John Bollman's Bet of the Day - 7/15

ML Parlay Bet of the Day:

We are going to switch things up a bit because clearly what I am doing isn’t working here. Insanity is trying something over and over but expecting different results, and this section of the MLB season has made me insane. So, with that being said, we are going to go with a MLB parlay tonight for this FlashPicks play.

The Houston Astros will face off against the Oakland Athletics tonight in Houston to begin this three game division series before the All-Star break. The Astros are 5-1 against the Athletics this season and they are seeing Cole Irvin for the second time in two turns and third time this season. He has actually pitched pretty well against the Astros this season after struggling against them last year. However, he is still 1-5 with a 3.71 ERA in his last seven games. He is also much worse on the road at 1-5 with a 5.27 ERA this season. Jose Urquidy will be making the start for Jake Odorizzi who was scratched. Urquidy has been dominant lately pitching five straight quality starts. That includes three earned runs in eight innings pitched against the Athletics last time out. The Astros are the hottest team in baseball at 20-6 while the Athletics are the second worst team in baseball in the past 30 days at 9-18.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will take on their in-city rivals in the Los Angeles Angels in a two game series before the All Star game takes place in the other Los Angeles baseball Stadium. Clayton Kershaw is starting for the Dodgers, and he has allowed just 1 ER in his last 14.2 IP. He has been dominant this season outside one start at Coors Field. Patrick Sandoval is starting for the Angels tonight and he pitches well when he is in, but he doesn’t go deep into games. The Angels have been one of the worst teams in baseball the past couple months while the Dodgers are ranked second behind the Astros in the last 30 days at 20-7. The Angels are also the second worst team in the league in wOBA against lefties in the past 30 days, and they could be without Mike Trout again. The Angels have won just two of their last 10 games and those two games were both when Shohei Ohtani started. I like this parlay to lose the juice.
