John Bollman's Mariners @ Astros Player Prop Picks - 10/13

Seattle Mariners @ Houston Astros

As I mentioned in one of my previous articles, there are only so many sides you can take in the playoffs. There are only two games today and one of them is in significant jeopardy of getting rained out, so for that reason I am going to go with my player props for the Astros-Mariners game in an article for FlashPicks. Personally, I would suggest playing each of these props around 0.67 units with sides at a full unit. Here’s what I got for the day game!

Luis Castillo Over 17.5 Outs +105

Just 4 of the Astros hitters have even seen Luis Castillo before, so they are going to take a time or two through the lineup to see him. I think he gets deep in the game and goes 6 innings today.

Framber Valdez Over 4.5 hits -140

Framber Valdez gave up 5 and 8 hits in the two games against the Mariners earlier this season. Valdez is a sinker pitcher and gets most of his outs via the groundball, which means lots of balls in play. I think the Mariners will be able to put a bunch of balls in play today, and I think Valdez will pitch 5-6 innings at least so I like a couple balls finding their way into the outfield. Even if he dominates, he should allow baserunners.

Yordan Alvarez Over 0.5 Walks +115

I don’t think Alvarez gets much to hit at all today, and they will almost certainly walk him if there is ever a base open for him, so we could hit this essentially if he just ends up coming up to bat with first base open. I also like Alvarez Over 1.5 Total Bases and I think that is a good half hedge, but I like this number for a walk better.

Yuli Gurriel Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs +115

Yuli Gurriel’s at bats in Game 1 really impressed me, his only out was a line drive to left field that was hit hard. His number at 0.5 Total Bases at -200 is way too heavy for me although I like that play too. But this type of play gives us a better number and gives us other ways to cash even if he gets one hit, while also being able to cash on one swing.

Eugenio Suarez Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs +120

Eugenio Suarez has multiple hits in every playoff game so far and he has a five-game hitting streak. He should bat with runners on base with Ty France and Julio Rodriguez ahead of him. He also hits lefties a lot better than he does righties (.269/.373/.539 vs. LHP and .225/.319/.433 vs. RHP).
