The Los Angeles Dodgers take on the Chicago White Sox tonight in the windy city of Chicago. The Dodgers are coming off a tough homestand that saw them lose a series to the Pirates before splitting a series with the Mets. They hope to get back on track after the off day on the road. They will be facing a White Sox team that is still very shorthanded. Eloy Jimenez could be back in the lineup tonight and is expected to be back soon. However, Tim Anderson is still injured for the White Sox. The Dodgers should be starting all their regulars as well after the off day yesterday, that is always a concern with a team like the Dodgers who have so much depth. However, considering how banged up the White Sox also are, I am fine with this play even if a starter gets the day off.
Mitchell White is expected to start for the Dodgers, and he has been hit or miss lately. However, coming off the off day, the Dodgers should have all their relievers available in case they need to pull him early. Michael Kopech is coming off his worst start of the season and he has an alarming trend of walking multiple batters in each of his last 6 starts and in 8 of his 9 starts overall. The Dodgers are a team that will make you pay for those walks with home runs. They will also draw plenty of those walks as they have one of the lowest chase rates in the league. The Dodgers are also 7-0 this season when playing the day after a bye.
These teams are complete opposites when it comes to hitting right-handed pitching. The Dodgers have the highest wOBA in the league against righties while the White Sox have the third worst wOBA in the league against righties. The White Sox are thought to be much better at home, but they are actually worse at home this season at 11-13. The White Sox also haven’t won a home series since April 15-17. Think about that for a second, it is June 7 th . They have won just two home series all season long and those were the first two home series of the season. Now they have to take on the best team in the league in the Dodgers coming off an off day. I like the Dodgers on the road at this price.
