Give me all the Shohei you can get. The Angels have undoubtedly been a mess recently, they’ve almost fell out of the playoff picture and now Mike Trout has a “rare back condition.” But the shining star has been Shohei Ohtani, who despite being highly touted, still deserves more attention in my eyes. He’s currently 3rd in the AL Cy Young race odds, while hitting .257 with 21 home runs. It’s something incredible we haven’t seen in a long time.

Tonight he’ll be starting against Spencer Howard and the Rangers, both of whom have not exactly lived up to expectations. Howard hasn’t made it past the 5th inning in any of his appearances this year and it’s no coincidence. He’s looked shaky in his 3rd year in the majors and even the Angels will be able to hit this guy. With Shohei on the mound, the Angels get a huge bump and should be able to easily put away the Rangers.

Home Run Parlay

We love Coors Field and we don’t care who knows. The ball flies further and the home runs pile on. The story only gets better when the Dodgers are in town. Tonight Jose Urena is starting for the Rockies which is a great sign for the home team generally. Trea Turner is a tough assignment though. The shortstop has 15 home runs this year and has hit over .300 for almost the entire year. Good contact gets over the fence in Colorado and that’s what you see consistently out of Trea Turner.

Kris Bryant is officially back and has been heating up these past few games. He went yard a few nights ago against the Brewers ago and 5 home runs since returning from injury. However he’s still waiting to get his first at the home park. This is a great chance against the hard throwing Tyler Anderson. Anderson has been very solid this year but still given up 9 home runs. As a righty, Bryant will have the platoon advantage against the lefty Anderson who gave up 4 runs in 6 innings his last appearance in Denver.
