Home Run Parlay

We should be in for a high scoring game effort in Pittsburgh tonight. The Braves look to continue their 6 game road win streak against the struggling Pirates. Roansy Contreras will start for the Pirates after a few difficult outings (12 ER over his last 13 innings). So naturally the Braves sluggers are looking good today. Austin Riley is an easy choice with better value than Olson. He’s got 31 home runs on the season, the 3rd most of any hitter this season. He also loves to kick off a series with the long ball, something he’s done in 3 of the last 7 Braves series.

How about the Rangers? They’re beating the Twins in an underdog series and subtly improving their record. Few are posting better numbers lately and none have better home run value than Nathaniel (not Nate) Lowe. 2 home runs and 5 RBIs in the last 4 games are only the latest contribution to his excellent month, where Lowe is averaging .395. His opposing starter in Sonny Gray is not exactly prone to giving up home runs but the bullpen certainly is. 66 home runs on the season makes this bullpen the second highest in the MLB, only behind the Cubs. Some great value on a hot hitter rounds out the parlay.

Milwaukee Brewers @ Los Angeles Dodgers

After what should have been an easier series against the Cubs, the Brewers lost two of three and head to another three games against the best team in the MLB. Issues have been arising on the defensive side in Milwaukee, especially late in the game. Although he wasn’t his elite self this year, the Brewers are certainly missing Hader. That said, they have been able to score runs at a solid clip. They average 5.5 over their last 4 games despite the record. They have a tough matchup against Julio Urias who has been red hot but that’s where we’re getting the betting value. Seeing the same starter twice in only a week gives an advantage to the hitters. If they can keep pace with their recent production, 5 runs is very achievable. On the other side there is less of a story. We all know how good the Dodgers are and although Eric Lauer is solid, they’ll have no problem hitting. This could easily turn into a double digit run affair.
