The Cubs captured some opening day magic on Thursday afternoon to pick up the first win of the MLB season. I think it will be very difficult to repeat. The win came in a close one, with the Cubs able to get some key runs in the 5th off the end of Burnes’ start. He threw 83 pitches, which with the shortened spring training may have been just too many, especially given he gave up nothing through the first 4. I doubt they make the same mistake with Woodruff again and if the Brewers have a lead late in the game, they’ve got one of the best in the league in Hader to finish it off. Take the Brewers to even the series.
