@KeepTheJuice21's Field of Dreams Pick - 8/11

After two profitable gambling days in a row, we come to one of my favorite events of the year. The Field of Dreams game is played tonight, true to form in the middle of a cornfield in Iowa. Why the MLB chose the Reds and the Cubs to play will baffle historians for years to come. But either way, the spectacle brings a lot of eyes and a lot of energy. Energy for two teams that sorely need it. Neither are sniffing a wild card spot, let alone a division title. So the staff is mostly testing out new talent and the players are mostly playing for personal stats. But not tonight. Tonight they’re playing in front of the whole country (last years was the highest-rated regular season game) and it just feels different. If this game doesn’t get you amped up you don’t belong in the MLB. Just read what Joey Votto had to say on this game and you’ll get it, these guys were born for this.

The matchups and statistics are always important but they almost seem secondary tonight. Nick Lodolo is starting for the Reds; he’s a solid young lefty but he tends to get himself in trouble and could end up throwing 95 pitches in the first 5 innings. That would leave the game to the worst bullpen in baseball. The other starter, lefty Drew Smyly is a little more consistent but rarely has more than 85 pitches in him, especially after his last start went 106. He also had a poor outing last time he faced the Reds, who have an uptick in batting average against lefties.

It's not a guarantee but the signs are pointing to the over. And let’s be honest, you can’t take the under in this game. In fact, it’s downright Un-American not to take the over. Who doesn’t want to see some dingers hit into the cornfield? A few deep RBIs? Maybe even a walk-off? I don’t know what’s in store but I know what I’m rooting for in by far the coolest MLB event of the year.
