@MattyChucks' MLB Futures: Division Winners Parlay - 3/12

The 2023 MLB Season is right around the corner! It is time for a good old division winners longshot! Now, you can take these individually, but they don’t hold a lot of value and this long season may be too long to hold a non-long shot futures ticket. Let’s get into this 4-leg division winner!

AL East

Let’s get this ugly one out of the way.

The New York Yankees at +130 to win the AL East. I think they have the most talent and would do the most at the trade deadline to make sure they are in playoff contention. I still think the Orioles are a year or two away and the only competition is the Toronto Blue Jays.

AL Central

This is going to be a fun division.

I think it is between the Twins and the Guardians. In my opinion, the Guardians will be one of the biggest beneficiaries of the no shift rule. They have a lot of guys who get on base who can then take advantage of the pitch clock for pitchers and disrupt them. Jose Ramirez is a switch-hitting power bat that is perfect for any roster as well. I can’t trust Buxton to stay healthy and I think they will take a while to figure out their lineup. I know getting Correa back was huge for the Twins, but unless Gallo hits .300 I don’t think they can beat the Guardians. The Guardians won the division by 11 games last season and I don’t think the other teams are as equipped to take a leap here. I like their rotation as well and if Civale or Plesac can win games for them they have a very deep roster.

NL East

You guys knew this was coming.

The New York Metropolitans and Uncle Stevie will make sure to win the division this season. The Phillies made huge moves and I mean huge moves, but I think they are built more for a playoff series than the long regular season. The Braves are the defending divisional champions as well, but they may be trusting on their young talent a little too much. I am not sure that Harris, Strider, and Grissom will maintain the same level of play as the last 2 months of the season. There are always injury concerns with Albies and Acuna. However, this division will be a bloodbath. The Mets made some moves in their rotation and it is really deep if Senga performs well. The Mets young talent in Alvarez, Baty, and Mauricio can prove themselves as well even though I don’t think they need all 3 to step up to win the division.

NL West

The Dodger reign is going to be over.

The San Diego Padres are spending money like it is their job and I think it will pay off with Tatis returning. The core of Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, and Xander Bogaerts is just insane. Trent Grisham, Jake Cronenworth, and Austin Nola are also solid bats to fill the gaps in the lineup with some veterans hanging around as well. The Dodgers basically replaced Justin Turner’s bat with J.D. Martinez and I am not sure that is enough to compete with that firepower in San Diego.

I am going with the 4 leg parlay for +3010. It should be fun to root for all season and I like the chances! Take with it what you like! Let’s have a great 2023 season!
