Ahhh! The day I have waited for has finally arrived! Baseball season is back. In the background, there has been many hours of prep to prepare for this season and I cannot wait to get startedβ¦so let's get started!
I must warn, early season K props could be dangerous this season. These guys did not get the full spring training to stretch out their arms. I would guess we see strict pitch counts nearly across the board. I will take the first few days slow and really pick my spots carefully (will more so focus on hit parlays and first 5 inning moneyline). Adam Wainwright is one guy I am willing to put money on in this unknown stretch. I am trusting the 40 year old to be prepared to take on a solid workload. He is coming off a 206 inning season, and it was arguably one of the top seasons of his great career. Much of his success came against this Pirates team. Adam was 4-0 vs the Pirates last season with a 0.30 ERA. He had 29 k in 30 innings (hit over 4.5 K in all starts), and may face an even worse lineup than he saw last year. Below is the Pirates projected lineup and their K% vs righties:
- Vogelbach 25.5%
- Reynolds 19.3%
- Hayes 25.4%
- Tsutsugo 31.0%
- Gamel 31.6%
- Perez 42.7%
- Alford 43.2%
- Castillo (Rookie)
- Newman 9.3%
While Reynolds and Newman are tough to strikeout, Adam should be able to mow down several of their teammates on his way to 5 K.Β
