The Red Sox are off to a brutal 10-18 start to this season, but that has not bothered Xander Bogaerts at the plate. He is 11th in the league with a .337 average and gets a great matchup today against Dallas Kuechel.
We will start with Xander vs lefties. We have a small sample size so far this season as he is 7/21. A .333 average is a great start, especially when backed by several years of data supporting Xander’s ability to hit lefties. He is also 3/11 in his career vs Dallas Kuechel with a homer. Dallas has been hit by pretty much everyone so far this season. He has an 8.40 ERA so far this season, and righties are hitting him at a .328 clip so far this season. Worth mentioning in his lone start this season in a day game this season, he allowed 10 hits and 10 runs in one inning.
As for Xander’s other splits, we have more good news. He has hit .327 at home with 4 doubles and 2 home runs in home games and he has hit .353 with 5 doubles and 1 home run in day games. Boston could be in for a great day of offense, and I love Xander to get in on the action.
