What a demoralizing loss for the Warriors. Tatum goes 3-17 from the floor, Jaylen Brown misses another 13 shots himself and Steph Curry scores 21 points in the first quarter. The Warriors end the 3rd quarter up 12. Yet still the Celtics found a way to fight back and put the game away with a dominant 4th quarter. It may sound repetitive but the Celtics have such great perimeter defense and the youth/energy is difficult for the Warriors to keep up with. The advanced statistics are so far in favor of the Celtics in this series that it almost seems too good to be true.
We keep expecting the Warriors to pull out some magic like they used to, and with Steph thatβs always possible. But ultimately, itβs a lot more likely that the better team wins, both tonight and in the whole series. Matchup-wise, this is a nightmare for the Warriors. I think Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens may have quite literally built this team with the intention of competing with the Warriors. If the Splash Brothers modernized the NBA, this is the result and theyβll have to prove that their time hasnβt come to pass. I donβt think they will.
