Minnesota Wild

Leg 1: Ryan Pulock (NYI) over 1.5 Shots on Goal (-145) vs. CBJ

Since being reunited with Adam Pelech as the Islanders’ top defensive pair, this 27-year-old defenseman’s once dormant shots on goal stats have been revived.

Before the change, he was held to 1 shot or less in 6 straight games. When Head Coach Barry Trotz tweaked the lineup March 7th, Pullock’s trend reversed in a positive way. He’s now covered this 1.5 SOG line in 8 of 12 (75%) games since playing with Adam Pelech.

At the time of the change, Pulock told reporters: “It’s good to be reconnected with him. I think we got a lot of confidence together and we know each other’s games well. It’s nice out there with him.”

Tonight, Pulock gets a prime matchup vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets who allow 34.4 shots per game at home (3rd most) since the All-Star Break. Importantly, roughly 31% of those shots are coming off the sticks of defensemen (Pulock’s position), +3.0% vs. League Average and the 2nd highest percentage in the NHL.

Noah Dobson is also a good option for shots on goal today, but I prefer Pulock for our parlay. In two earlier season matchups, Pulock had 3 and 5 shots on goal vs. CBJ, easily covering this 1.5 line.

Leg 2: Claude Giroux (FLA) over 0.5 Points (-180) vs. OTT

The former Philadelphia Flyers captain now has 4 points in 3 games since being acquired by Florida at the trade deadline. Tonight, he’ll make his home debut in front of the Florida faithful in a favorable matchup vs. Montreal.

Giroux’s first game with the Panthers was against this same Montreal team last Thursday, and he tallied 2 assists (1 even strength and 1 power play). Tonight, we only need 1, and it can be either a goal or assist to cash the ticket.

If you’re feeling risky, you could consider using his assist prop for this leg instead. All 4 of Giroux’s points with his new team came via assist. The price has dropped slightly each game since he joined, but you can bet it for +110 today at most books.

Giroux’s elite vision, playmaking and passing skills set him up nicely to tally plenty of assists playing alongside Aleksander Barkov on Florida’s 1st line.

His new role on their 1st Power Play is also ideal for recording assists. They have him playing the “point”, which means he’s effectively quarterbacking the Power Play from near the top of the blue line. Florida forwards cycle the puck up to him, and he has a choice of passing lanes to set up one-timers. He’s been very effective in this role so far, recording 2 of his 4 points with Florida via the Power Play, including 1 vs. MTL last week.

Leg 3: Kevin Fiala (MIN) over 0.5 Points (-190) vs. PHI

This 25-year-old forward has recorded at least 1 point in 15 of his last 18 (83%) games.

His points are coming mostly through assists lately, but he does score occasional goals, which led me to keep it safe with his points prop for leg 3.

Tonight, he gets what I view as a favorable matchup vs.  Philadelphia backup goaltender Martin Jones, who is coming off a game where he allowed 5 goals on 35 shots.

In one prior matchup vs. Philly this year, Fiala had 2 points. Tonight, we only need 1!

He also recorded a point in 5 of his last 6 vs. the Flyers dating back to 2017.
