@FastMoneyLabs’ Best NHL Bets - 4/5

This 28-year-old Swede is a Devils killer. After recording a goal and assist in their last meeting (March 22nd), the Rangers’ Alternate Captain now has 4 multi-point games in his last 5 vs. NJD.

In their last visit across the Hudson, the Blue Shirts scored 2 quick goals before squandering the lead in an embarrassing defeat. Unfortunately for New Jersey, one of the key contributors to that comeback, superstar Jack Hughes, is likely out tonight after leaving last game with a knee injury.

I love my Devils, but without Jack, we do not stand a chance tonight vs. NYR. His absence will be deflating physically (through lack of talent) but also mentally.

If you prefer backing teams over player props, NYR 3-way ML feels solid tonight. They’ve screwed me a couple times now, which led me to prefer the low-hanging fruit: a bet that Zibanejad will record an assist vs. his cross-town rival, as he’s done in 5 of his last 6 vs. them. This year it is 2-1. 

Mika has not recorded an assist in two straight games but before that, it hit in 5 of his last 6. Great time to buy the dip at plus money odds.

If you didn’t think the best player in the planet could get any better. . . Think again.

He’s now recorded 2+ points in 11 of his last 13 (84.6%) games. This might come as a surprise, but it shouldn’t, because he’s been doing this his whole career.

So if this has such a high hit rate, why is it priced at -108? My guess is it relates to the matchup vs. San Jose. In their last 8 meetings, he only has 2 multi-point games. Importantly though, 6 of those matchups occurred in 2020 or earlier. This year, he’s cleared 2+ points in 1 of 2 vs. SJ, including in their most recent matchup (2 assists).

With a cup run on his mind and a chance to build momentum tonight, I see no reason to shy away from McDavid at the reasonable price of -108 (minus the late start time, sorry East Coasters)!
