Seattle Mariners (45-42) @ Washington Nationals (30-58)

We love following a good streak. And the Mariners are on fire recently. With 8 wins in a row against two teams with legitimate World Series ambitions in the Blue Jays and Padres, Seattle is playing as well as anyone right now. I would be looking to bet them against anybody, but luckily they’re fortunate enough to be playing the Nationals, maybe the last team I would expect to break the streak.

Josiah Gray will start for the Nats; nothing he’s done has thoroughly impressed this year. He gives up home runs at a high clip, especially when you consider that Nationals Park is not very hitter friendly. The line is so friendly to the Mariners that it almost feels like a trap. The Nationals are on an awful streak, losing 10 of the last 11. It is baseball though and anything could happen this time of year. But it’s hard to believe the Mariners will lose focus during the best part of their season yet. So take this one to the bank.

Home Run Parlay

We’re going to need a piece of the highest total on the board today. Coors Field is ripe for home runs as always and the best bet here in my eyes is the star Machado. Manny doesn’t have as many HRs on the board as CJ Cron, but he also has the disadvantage of playing in San Diego vs Denver. We saw him go yard last night with a 446 foot blast. If he can get even close to that, he can easily take it again over the left or right field walls, both of which sit close to 350.

We’ve already gone over how Josiah Gray is prone to the long ball. He gives up an above average exit velocity and hard hit rate, which has led to 18 home runs against him this season. That’s the second highest clip of any pitcher this season, even at the non-hitter friendly Nationals Park. Eugenio Suarez is a similar case, with 15 home runs on the short season so far but at a non-hitter friendly park. When he hits them, he hits them deep and he should have a great chance to tonight.
