If you’re like me — you miss the days of betting Connor McDavid to get 2+ points at a reasonable price. Oh were they glorious.
Sadly those days are long passed, but don’t fret — we’ve got a solution. I’m coining it:
The Poor Man’s Connor McDavid to get 2+ Points.
That’s right. Rather than lay the juice to back McDavid’s 2+ points prop, we‘re backing his linemate, Leon Draisaitl, to do the same at plus money odds tonight.
Edmonton’s 2nd best player is in the midst of a stretch with 4 straight 3+ point games, including a 4 point performance in Game 3. In other words, dude is on an absolute heater and we’ve been ignoring it. At least I have. No more.
It doesn’t always pay to blindly ride trends, but in this case it should. That’s because the timing of Leon’s bounce back corresponds with being reunited with McDavid on Edmonton’s top line.
I’ve said it many times: playing next to Connor McDavid increases the odds you’ll record points. That statement is especially true for someone like Draisaitl, who has years’ worth of experience playing alongside #97. Said differently, the duo is not just a dual-threat fueled by talent. They’ve also got chemistry.
Draisaitl was fairly quiet to start the playoffs, but he was centering Edmonton’s 2nd line at that time and surrounded by less-talented linemates. Since returning to the top line, he’s cashing this 2+ points prop with ease, but the odds haven’t caught up yet.
It was tempting to back McDavid 2+ points at -150 today, but after the 2-day stretch we just had on $FML Twitter, I’m not sure we can afford it. If my master plan works, we’ll be Uber XL’ing to Saks Fifth in no time. Till then, we’re bicycling down to Kohl’s and backing the Poor Man’s Connor McDavid to get 2+ points.
