This should be an action packed game with 2 of the NHLβs top 10 scoring offenses. There should be plenty of chances for both teams to score. While there are several Maple Leaf players I like tonight, I found far more value in the Blue Jackets. Patrik Laine has been as consistent as pretty anyone in the NHL over the last 2 months. He comes in registering at least 1 point in 14 of his last 16 games, and 10 of those were games with 2+ points.
The Blue Jackets offense is rolling, averaging 3.4 goals over their last 10 games at home, and Patrik is a huge reason for their success. Another aspect of this play I love is on the Toronto side. Petr Mrazek is the confirmed goalie tonight for the Maple Leafs. Petr allows 3.22 goals per game with a 0.89 save percentage, and his road numbers are even worse. This is a great opportunity for the Blue Jackets offense to continue their hot streak and Patrik should lead the way.Β
In all fairness, the Oilers defense has improved as the season has gone on. Mikko Koskinen is confirmed in the net for Edmonton, and has been a little better lately than he was earlier in the season. With that said, he struggled so much in November and December the only way to go was up. He has still allowed 3 or more goals in 5 of his last 7 games including 4 against the Blackhawks in his last start. He faced this Calgary team in January and allowed 3 goals, including an assist from our guy tonight.
That guy is Elias Lindholm. Elias has helped us cash a few parlays and I am happy to go back to him again tonight. He has registered a point in 76% of games this season, and that success rate jumps to 83% at home (20/24). He has a point in 12 straight home games, and I love this spot for him to make it 13.Β
