With Ja Morant doubtful tonight, it creates some terrific opportunities for some of the other Griz youngsters to shine. Dillon Brooks is back and while he is a bit of a black hole on offense, I still love this spot for Desmond Bane to step up. Speaking of step up, this will be a ladder article!
Desmond is an absolute sharp shooter. The second year SG is enjoying the terrific improvement from his rookie season. He has some eye popping shooting stats, especially on the road. Now this isnβt my first article about Bane on the road, but it has been a while so lets refresh some memories with his home/road 3 point splits:
2.3/6.5 35% at home
3.5/7.4 47.5% on the road
It is very rare to see an increase in volume result in a large improvement of percentage. I am not sure what it is about the road, but 32 road games in we have enough data to buy into the trend. Partner these stats with the fact that the Griz will likely be without Ja, and I am thinking we are in for a good night here. In 7 road games without Ja, Desmond is over 2.5 threes in 6/7, over 3.5 threes in 5/7, and over 4.5 threes in 3/7.Β
The Pacers have played a fast pace, no defense style since the trade deadline that fits right in with this play. They are now 26th in defensive efficiency and 26th in three point percentage allowed.Β
I love this spot for Desmond to climb the ladder with his threes.
