GriffyBets

We’ve got 12 games to parse through on the ice tonight, and it’s seeming like a good night to load up a few defensemen props.

Noah Dobson

The Islanders should be able to generate some scoring tonight in Chicago, they’re averaging 3.7 goals per game while the Blackhawks are seeing 34.3 shots and 3.3 goals per game against them.

I expect at least one of those goals to be on the power play. Chicago is allowing the fourth-most power play opportunities (PPOA) per game, and their penalty killing rate is seventh-lowest in the league.

Dobson has been quite involved on the New York PP, second on the team in shots when a man up with eight. I did consider his PPP, but when I find an edge like this, sometimes it’s just best to load up a standard point prop.

Dobson has six points this year and scored when he last saw Chicago. By all means, consider his goal prop if you’re feeling bold, I’ll roll with a point at very reasonable odds.

Betting 1u: Noah Dobson point (+100 FD)

Roman Josi

It’s impossible to ignore the spot Roman Josi is in tonight. For starters, he’ll see an Edmonton team that has allowed the most shots per game to defensemen this season.

That always helps the cause, but it goes beyond that. The Oilers are allowing the fifth-most shots per game and the most PPOA per contest. Those two metrics likely go hand-in-hand, so knowing that Josi should have a few power play chances, he leads Nashville in PP shots with nine, I’m confident he can reach four shots on net.

Josi is over this number in six of his last seven, going for 5+ shots in three straight. He had four SOG in both road games in Edmonton last season.

Betting to win 1u: Roman Josi over 3.5 SOG (-115 MGM)

Brandon Montour

I’m excited about this Brandon Montour spot. He and the Panthers see Arizona tonight, and regular hockey bettors should know how generous the Coyotes are to props (36.6 shots allowed per game, 4.4 goals allowed on average).

Montour has seemingly slotted into the Aaron Ekblad role for Florida, skating on their top power play and shooting the puck at a high volume.

This props.cash volume chart tells the story better than I can. Look at the uptick in shot attempts and shots on goal for Montour.

This has yielded immediate results for the defensemen. Montour has scored in two straight games and has eight points in his last six.

The Coyotes are allowing the seventh-most power play opportunities per game and the fifth-most shots to defensemen. This is a great spot for Montour to continue his involvement. I’d love a shot on goal line here, but don’t think we’re going to get one - keep your eyes peeled though!

Like Dobson, a sprinkle on his goal, currently at +550, is enticing. I prefer rolling with a point which is always the safer choice.

Betting to win 1u: Brandon Montour point (-121 CZR)

Dougie Hamilton

I’m giving Dougie Hamilton another chance, trusting the bounce-back is so important in NHL betting. I loaded up a Hamilton point on Sunday, and I’ll admit that watching the Devils pile up seven goals and Hamilton not record a single goal or assist was particularly painful.

The Devils should find similar success tonight against a Vancouver team vulnerable to defensemen shots and allowing 3.9 goals per game.

Hamilton has seven points in his last eight games, and these odds are too good to pass up. His shots may need to be laddered up or parlayed, but he should be good for at minimum three SOG this evening.

Betting 1u: Dougie Hamilton point (+100 DK)
